3D Crime Scene Digitizer Produces 3D Model of Crime Scene
Durham, N.C., March 10,
2008 – 3rdTech announced today that their DeltaSphere-3000 3D Scene
Digitizer and SceneVision-3D Software were featured on the premier episode of
A&E’s new reality crime show, Crime 360, which aired on March 6. The
Del
taSphere is a 3D laser scanner that quickly and accurately measures millions of
points and takes hundreds of photographs of a crime scene. The captured data can
be displayed as a photorealistic 3D computer graphics model and viewed from any
perspective. Investigators in the show use the system to produce an accurate,
color, computer graphics model of the suspect’s apartment. This 3D model is
displayed and used to analyze the crime.
“The show’s developers
were seeking the most advanced forensic products available”, said Nick
England, President of 3rdTech. “We were happy to work with them and the
Richmond Police Department to demonstrate our 3D products which are actively
being used by more than a dozen law enforcement agencies.”
The DeltaSphere system
combines 3D laser scanning with high-resolution color photography and was the
first 3D scanner to produce photorealistic 3D models. SceneVision software was
designed for law enforcement and provides measurement, analysis and display
functions needed for documenting and analyzing crime scenes and preparing
presentations for use in court. It is being used by sheriff’s offices, police
departments and federal agencies around the
U.S.
and in several countries overseas. It has also been adopted for forensic
training at several colleges and universities.
